Jacko wins Ladbrokes Player of the Month Award for March! - By Grant Hood
Brechin City striker Andy Jackson has been voted Ladbrokes League One Player of the Month for March after netting in all five games. ‘Jacko’ is the first City recipient of this award since Robert Thomson in April 2016.
In a memorable scoring spree which saw him score in six consecutive games, five of Andy’s strikes came in the month of March against Peterhead, Airdrieonians, Queen’s Park, Alloa Athletic and East Fife. The former St Johnstone forward goes into the last four games of the run-in currently on 15 goals for the season overall and is keen to add to his tally.
Jackson, 29, told Ladbrokes News: "It’s good to get the recognition for scoring some goals and we’ve done well lately. When the manager let me know I was delighted. If I hadn't been injured I could have hit 20 goals, which would have been amazing, but there are still four games left and I’ll hopefully get close to it. It’s in our own hands - we’re in the play-off spots just now. Alloa on Saturday is a big game and I’d say it’ll take three wins from four to make sure we make it into the play-offs.”
The Ladbrokes monthly awards are voted for by members of the Scottish media, with a Manager and a Player of the Month selected for each of the four divisions.
