Stranraer - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will embark on the long journey south west to Stranraer tomorrow morning looking to pick up their first victory of 2017.

Incredibly, it was nine weeks ago that City last won a league match when they defeated Alloa Athletic by 2-1 at the Indodrill Stadium and since that time they have lost four and drawn one of their five matches the latest of which was last Saturday's disappointing 3-2 defeat from East Fife at Bayview.

There's no doubt that the City players will be determined to get back to winning ways down at Stair Park against the league's basement side who sit six points behind the visitors having played two games more. However, since former player Stephen Farrell's appointment as manager in early January when he succeeded Brian Reid, the Blues have won one, drawn three and lost just one of their five league matches which again merely emphasises how difficult and challenging every match is whoever the opposition may be and wherever they sit in the table and with just eight points separating fourth placed East Fife and tenth placed Stranraer and with the last quarter of the campaign on the horizon, every point will be vital in the final run-in.

As far as team news is concerned, Alan Trouten will serve the first of his two-match suspension but Ally Love will return to the squad with everyone else (Euan Smith excepted) fit and available for selection.

The match referee will be Steven Reid who has been in charge of just one City match this season, the 2-1 home defeat from Albion Rovers on 6th December.
