East Fife - Brechin City Match Preview

Brechin City will make the relatively short journey into Fife tomorrow for the League One encounter against East Fife at Bayview, itching to get back into action after last week's postponement of the Airdrieonians game at Glebe Park.

Former City defender Barry Smith is the man in charge at Bayview having been appointed in mid December and since that time, the Fifers have gone on an incredible run, winning four and drawing three of their seven league games as well as disposing of league leaders Livingston on their own patch in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. That fantastic run only came to an end last Saturday when they were beaten by the odd goal in five by St Mirren in a thrilling game at Bayview which just goes to underline how difficult City's task will be.

With the Fifers sitting just one point behind them, the City players will no doubt be extremely determined to see that points gap extended in their favour if they can manage to overcome their opponents and they will take heart from the way they performed in the second-half against Stenhousemuir a fortnight ago.

Long-term injury victim Euan Smith and the suspended Ally Love will be the only absentees from manager Darren Dods's squad.

It's even stevens as far as the previous results this season are concerned with both sides notching up a victory apiece. City came out on top in the previous encounter at Bayview in late August with Ross Caldwell firing them in front after just four minutes and although the hosts pulled a goal back just after the half-hour through Scott Robinson another away goal from Finn Graham five minutes into the second-half wrapped up victory for City and it was a turnaround in fortunes at the Glebe in December when a 10th minute goal from Robinson ensured victory for the visitors.
