Brechin City - Queens Park Match Preview

Brechin City boss Darren Dods will welcome full-back Chris O'Neil back to his squad for tomorrow's League One encounter against Gus McPherson's Queens Park.

Chris initially pulled a hamstring which was then aggravated but he's been working hard in recent weeks to get back to full fitness and after coming through two training sessions this week without any ill effects he'll rejoin the squad for tomorrow's match. As far as City's other injury problems are concerned, Darren McCormack, James Dale, Andy Jackson and Euan Smith are all ruled out and in Euan's case, the devastating news is that he's damaged his cruciate ligament and will be out of action for between seven and eight months. This must be a real body-blow to a player who has been such a consistent performer for the club this season and we wish him well on what will undoubtedly be a long road back to recovery. On the plus front, Dougie Hill who missed last week's match against Albion Rovers through suspension will be available again while Connor McLennan who missed that match through injury should be ok to face the Spiders.

City have yet to score a goal against Queens Park this season, the first match between the sides at Glebe Park ending in a 0-0 draw while Queens won the corresponding fixture at Hampden by 2-0. The Spiders can leapfrog City into fourth position in the table if they can win tomorrow's encounter but City also have a strong incentive in as much that they can also move up a place if they triumph and Airdrieonians either draw or lose at home to East Fife.

The pitch covers have been down since Wednesday and the playing surface underneath at the time of writing is fine so the club are very hopeful that the match will go ahead. Some of the covers have blown out of position due to the strong overnight winds so the club would be most grateful for any help in restoring them into position. If anyone is able to lend a hand they should come to the park at 3.00pm this afternoon.
