Brechin City - Stenhousemuir Match Preview

Brechin City play host to fifth placed Stenhousemuir at Glebe Park tomorrow with the players determined to put last Saturday's disappointing 3-0 defeat from Cowdenbeath firmly behind them and concentrate on getting back to the type of form that saw them pick up four points in the preceding two weeks with a win at Forfar and a draw against league leaders Ayr United.

As far as team news is concerned, Gary Fusco who missed out last week after picking up an injury in the game against Ayr is back to full fitness and will come back into the reckoning for a place in the starting eleven whilst Robert Thomson's prospects are rated as 50-50 by manager Darren Dods. Robert hasn't played since he picked up a thigh injury in the game against Airdrieonians at Excelsior Stadium in the middle of October and it will be welcome news indeed if he manages to make a return to the squad for Saturday's game. Dene Shields is still on the injury list although it is hoped that his return to first-team action won't be too long delayed.

The Warriors will clearly provide stiff opposition for City having lost only one of their six previous league fixtures, the solitary defeat in that period, a 1-0 loss to league leaders Ayr United. The only previous meeting between the sides this season saw them share four goals in an entertaining match at Ochilview at the beginning of October. Former Arbroath midfielder Alan Cook fired his side into the lead after 34 minutes but two late goals from Andy Jackson and David Weatherston gave City the advantage until a goal from Carlos Mazana-Martinez right at the death rescued a point for the hosts.

The referee for tomorrow's match is experienced whistler Craig Charleston who will be in charge of his first Brechin City match of the season.

The match is being sponsored by Brechin Bowling Club and former City Management Committee member Ian Jardine is sponsoring the Match Ball.
