Stenhousemuir v Brechin City - Match Preview - By Grant Hood

Stenhousemuir - Brechin City: Match Preview - 3/10/2015

Darren Dods takes his Brechin City squad to Ochilview Park tomorrow to face Stenhousemuir in a match which completes the first round of fixtures of the 2015/16 season. The squad is fully aware that a third consecutive victory, coupled with favourable scorelines elsewhere, could result in the welcome reality of City moving off the League One bottom spot for the first time this season.

It’s no co-incidence that City’s return to form is at a time when Dods has a fully fit squad to choose from. With no new injuries to report this week, it’s odds-on that the starting XI will be largely unchanged – potentially allowing the same starting line-up for the third game in a row.

With the players routinely training on artificial surfaces, the pitch at Ochilview holds no particular fears for City players and they go into the match in good spirits looking for a positive result prior to the upcoming international break weekend.

City enjoyed superiority over the Warriors last season, with 3 victories and a play-off clinching draw, added to a Scottish Cup Tie victory at Ochilview in November. This contrasted to the previous head-to-head sequence where Stenhousemuir were undefeated in 6 clashes, winning all 4 in season 2013/14.

The hosts come into the game on the back of mixed form, with no goals and no points in their last 2 fixtures – against Albion Rovers and free-scoring Dunfermline Athletic – preceded by a 1-0 home victory over Stranraer. Definitely absent for the homesters will be striker Colin McMenamin following his red card last weekend.

The match referee is Lanarkshire-based David Lowe who is taking charge of a Brechin City fixture for the first time, following his promotion to the Category One list at the start of this season.

The Brechin City Supporters Club will be running a bus to this game which will depart from St Ninians Square at 11.30am. Steven Stewart (07547 552209) is the man to contact if you wish to reserve a seat.

Admission Prices at Ochilview Park are as follows:
- Adults - £13
- Concessions - £8 (OAP's/Students)
- Under 16's – FREE, when accompanied by an adult

Brechin City season ticket holders should note that you can get entry at a reduced price of only £10 – but you must have your BCFC season ticket with you.

Travelling supporters should also be aware that Tryst Road (the normal entry route towards Ochilview, past the Golf Course and the Cricket Club) is closed and access to the ground will be via Main Street.
