Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview

Brechin City kick off their season tomorrow afternoon with the visit of Jim McInally's Peterhead in the first round of the Petrofac Training Cup.

Manager Darren Dods will be determined to get his first competitive match off to a winning start and will be keen to redress the balance after five encounters against the Blue Toon last season didn't produce a single City victory.

In the second round of the same tournament last year, Peterhead came away from Glebe Park with a 2-0 victory, courtesy of goals from former City midfielder Jamie Redman and Steven Noble and the four league encounters that followed produced one Blue Toon win and three score-draws.

Darren has been impressed with his players both in training and in their recent pre-season games and will be looking for the team to continue where they left off against Dundee last Saturday when a second-half Robert Thomson goal netted City a deserved victory.

The manager has no injury worries to contend with and will have a fully fit squad at his disposal, albeit with the very real possibility that there will be two further additions to the squad prior to kick-off.

Peterhead boss Jim McInally has Andy Rodgers suspended for tomorrow's tie but everyone else is fit with new summer signings Shane Sutherland (Ex Elgin City), Nathan Blockley (Ex Airdrieonians), Ally Gilchrist (St Johnstone Loan) and Scott Ferries (Ex Aberdeen and Ross County) all likely to be involved.

The referee tomorrow is Glasgow based Colin Steven, who refereed 4 City fixtures last season.
