Petrofac Training Cup - City Host Blue Toon

For the first time in 3 years, Brechin City will start the new season with a home game.
The Glebe Parkers were handed a home tie against Peterhead in today's First Round draw of the Petrofac Training Cup.
This is the third consecutive season that the 2 side have been paired in this competition, competed for by the SPFL clubs outwith the Ladbrokes Premiership - in addition to the winners of the Highland and Lowland Leagues, namely Brora Rangers and Edinburgh City.
City fans will be hoping for a more favourable outcome than has been the case latterly. The Blue Toon triumphed in both recent Cup-Ties, enjoying a 2-1 victory at Balmoor Stadium in the opening match of season 2013/14, and a 2-0 win in a 2nd round clash at The Glebe on a Tuesday evening last August.
Despite finishing last season 2 places and 8 points better off than Jim McInally's side, City failed to beat Peterhead in 4 league attempts so this will doubtless be a challenging first competitive game in charge for new City Manager Darren Dods.
The match, which signals the transition from pre-season friendlies to competitive action, will take place at Glebe Park on Saturday 25th July, with the normal kick-off time of 3pm.
The 1983 Hospitality Lounge will be in operation for this Cup Tie, and places can be reserved by e-mailing ghood@brechincityfc.com or by calling The Club's Commercial Line on 07817 910548.
Ties are played to a finish on the day, with the potential added drama of extra time and a penalty shoot-out.
