Brechin City - Airdrieonians Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Airdrieonians Match Preview

Brechin City boss Ray McKinnon certainly doesn't have his problems to seek as his side attempt to make it seventeen games unbeaten with the visit of Airdrieonians to Glebe Park with a number of players struggling to make it for tomorrow's match.

" A few of the lads took knocks against Dunfermline on Tuesday night and didn't train last night so I'm keeping my fingers firmly crossed that most if not all of them will make it for tomorrow's match," he said.

" We'll give them right up until kick-off to prove their fitness but if they don't manage to play we'll just have to roll up our sleeves and get on with things.

Diamonds manager Gary Bollan will have a full-strength squad for the journey north and they'll enter the match in the back of a six game unbeaten run. Although they sit in seventh place in the League One table, the Lanarkshire outfit certainly haven't given up hopes of a play-off place come the end of the season and they'll approach the game in the knowledge that City have still to record a victory over them this season.

In the first match between the sides at Excelsior Stadium on 11th October, goals from Scott Fraser, David Proctor, Jim Lister and Nathan Blockley saw the Diamonds romp to an emphatic 4-0 victory but the following games were much more evenly matched.

On the 6th December at the Glebe, City thought they had wrapped up all three points with a Bobby Barr goal nine minutes from time but former City striker Jim Lister levelled for the Diamonds three minutes later and it was again1-1 at Excelsior Stadium on the last day of January with Alan Trouten netting for City in the 59th minute with Jamie Bain equalising for the hosts ten minutes later.

Tomorrow's referee is Ayrshire based Kevin Graham who has refereed just one City match this season, the 3-1 defeat from Forfar Athletic at Station Park in September.

Brechin Golf Club Committee are sponsoring the match whilst Lennie Johnston from Lerwick who will be a welcome visitor to the Glebe is sponsoring the Match Ball.
