Brechin City - Dunfermline Athletic Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Dunfermline Athletic Match Preview.

Brechin City play host to Dunfermline Athletic tonight at Glebe Park, the second meeting between the sides in seven days and it will be a last-minute decision for City boss Ray McKinnon as regards his starting line-up. A couple of players took knocks against Stenhousemuir on Saturday and they will be given until the last minute to prove their fitness. It is hoped that Darren McCormack who missed Saturday's game against the Warriors after picking up an injury at East End Park last Tuesday night will be able to return and one certain addition to the squad will be Bobby Barr who missed Saturday's match because of a family wedding.

Victory for City tonight would see them draw level with Morton in joint second place in the League One table and extend the points gap between themselves and fourth placed Forfar Athletic to three. A home victory would also see the points gap over Dunfermline, Airdrieonians (who come calling at the Glebe on Saturday)and Peterhead extend to twelve although the Blue Toon have one game in hand. However, all of that is pure conjecture and the most important thing from City's point of view is to show the same levels of commitment, effort, work-rate and application that has been so prevalent during their fifteen game unbeaten run if they are to overcome the Pars this evening.

John Potter's side will be absolutely determined to bounce right back from their 5-1 defeat at leaders Stranraer on Saturday and victory for them tonight would put them right back in contention for a play-off place come the end of the season. The Dunfermline boss will be without Gregor Buchanan who was sent off at Stair Park and he will also have to do without the services of Ross Wallace and Alex Whittle due to injury.

The referee tonight is Greg Airken who has been in charge of just one City match this season, the 4-0 defeat from Airdrieonians in mid October.

Match Sponsor is Aberdeen based TBP! while Jim Turriff is sponsoring the Match Ball.
