Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview

Manager Ray McKinnon has no injury worries ahead of tomorrow's League One fixture against Peterhead although he will have one enforced change to make to the team that came away from Stair Park last Saturday with that excellent 2-0 victory. Craig Wighton has been recalled by Dundee so it would seem odds on that Robert Thomson will be the likely replacement although the manager won't be announcing his team until just before kick-off.

As things stand, the snow has disappeared from the Glebe Park playing surface but large areas of the playing surface remain frozen so much will depend on a continued and extensive thaw overnight if the game is to get the go ahead. Please check the Club Website and Facebook Page for updates following the pitch inspection which has been scheduled for 10.00am.

If the match does proceed, City will be keen to keep their good run of form going against the Blue Toon and they of course enter the game in the back of that fantastic thirteen game unbeaten run which they will clearly be determined to extend against Jim McInally's men.

Peterhead go into the match on the back of a narrow 2-1 home victory over basement club Stirling Albion last weekend. The Blue Toon fell behind to a Craig Wedderburn goal just before half-time but former City striker Rory McAllister equalised from the penalty-spot in the 73rd minute with James Stevenson wrapping up the points for the hosts a couple of minutes later.

The sides have met three times already this season with a Blue Toon victory and a couple of draws the outcomes.

The Blue Toon won the first encounter of the season between the sides, a first round Petrofac Training Cup match, by 2-0 thanks to goals from ex City midfielder Jamie Redman and Steven Noble and the points were shared just over a fortnight later, again at the Glebe, with a Jordon Brown goal four minutes from the end cancelling out Paul McLean's 49th minute opener. City were aggrieved not to come away with all three points in the third match between the teams at Balmoor Stadium on 22nd November when another late goal, this time from Bryan Gilfillan earned the hosts a 1-1 draw after Alan Trouten had fired City into the lead midway through the second-half.

The referee for tomorrow's match is Gavin Duncan while Brechin Bowling Club will be sponsoring the both the Match itself and the Match Ball.
