Brechin - Ayr United Match Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Ayr United Match Preview

Brechin City will be without midfielder Callum Tapping for the visit of Ayr United to Glebe Park tomorrow afternoon.

The former Hearts midfielder who came off the field early in the second-half in last Saturday's 5-0 walloping of Stirling Albion is still feeling the effects of his injury and will miss tomorrow's game. Manager Ray McKinnon has a ready made replacement however in Alan Trouten who celebrated his return to first-team action after a three-week lay-off with a couple of goals against the Binos and 'Trouts' will no doubt be hoping to add to his three-goal tally for the season against the Honest Men.

City could conceivably go top of the table tomorrow night if they beat Ayr United and results elsewhere in League One go their way but that thought won't be entering the players minds as they set about their task. They will be determined to keep up their good run of form against Mark Robert's side and will be keen to make sure that the chances they have been creating in all of their games hitherto, convert into goals, just as they showed in last week's match.

Ayr had led the table since the campaign began at the beginning of August but they were knocked off pole position when they went down to their first defeat of the season against Stranraer at Somerset Park last Saturday with Grant Gallagher and Jamie Longworth scoring second-half goals that wrapped up the points for the Blues.

City were undefeated against the Honest Men last season with two victories and two draws.
