In what was an entertaining and competitive game in front of a good turnout Brechin City ran out 7-1 victors over local Junior side Brechin Victoria in last night’s testimonial game.

Despite Brechin City creating numerous chances that brought off some excellent saves from Vics goalie Jamie Robbie, it was the junior side that started the scoring with Martin Strachan getting on the score sheet. Andy Jackson replied immediately to bring The City level. Bobby Barr then squeezed one between goalie Robbie’s legs before half time to give Brechin City the lead at the break.

A number of changes were made to both squads at half time. Brechin City immediately started to exert pressure on the Vics defence resulting in three goals in an 18 minute period, with the goals coming from Robert Thomson (2) & Ryan Ferguson. As the game went on Andy Jackson completed his hat trick to add to Brechin’s tally. Brechin Vics forward Andy Ferguson latched onto an excellent Vics strike that came off the crossbar only to have his goal disallowed for offside.
