Brechin City - Peterhead Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Peterhead Match Preview

Brechin City will entertain Peterhead for the second time this season in tomorrow's League One fixture at Glebe Park.

The Blue Toon were of course 2-0 victors in the Petrefac Cup second round tie at the Glebe a week past Tuesday when goals from former City midfielder Jamie Redman and Steven Noble saw them ease into a quarter-final home tie against Livingston. Immediately following on from their victory at Glebe Park, Jim McInally's men went down to a 2-1 home defeat from Morton with the Greenock side grabbing the opener through Stefan Milojevic two minutes after the break and although ex City striker Rory McAllister pulled a goal back from the penalty-spot later on in the half, a Thomas O'Ware strike right at the death ensured victory for Jim Duffy's men.

City responded to that disappointing cup defeat from the Blue Toon by sharing the spoils in a 2-2 draw down at Stranraer with Colin Hamilton and Craig Molloy giving them a 2-0 half-time lead. However, the Blues fought back after the break and reduced the deficit though Adam Forde, and a goal direct from a corner from Stephen Stirling an incredible four and a half minutes into injury-time earned them a point. The positive aspect from City's point of view was that the team played an awful lot better after the disappointment of the previous Tuesday's defeat from tomorrow's opponents and the players will be determined to keep up their performance levels against the Blue Toon.

City manager Ray McKinnon had hoped to include Jamie Masson from Aberdeen in his squad for the match but this move has been put on temporary hold because of the injury situation at Pittodrie although the formalities should hopefully, all be completed before the transfer window closes on Monday. Alan Trouten remains doubtful after sustaining an injury last Saturday at Stranraer. Peterhead will be without the services of Rory McAllister who was ordered off against Morton after picking up two yellow cards and winger Ryan McCann and midfielder Fraser McLaren also miss out because of injury. There is also a doubt over defender Reece Donaldson.

Referee

Des Roache.

Former Scottish track athlete Des Roache will officiate at tomorrow's game. Mr Roache hasn't refereed any City matches so far this season but he was the man in the middle for two of City's matches last season - the 2-0 derby win against Arbroath at Gayfield and the 3-1 defeat from Dunfermline at East End Park. During the course of those two games, Mr Roache produced ten yellow cards and one red card.
