Brechin City will play Peterhead at Glebe Park in the Second Round of the Petrofac Training Cup after the draw took place in Aberdeen earlier on this afternoon.

South Section

Livingston v Heart of Midlothian
Rangers or Hibernian v Clyde

Ties to be played on Tuesday 19th or Wednesday 20th August.

While City went into this afternoon's draw courtesy of their excellent 3-1 extra-time victory at Cowdenbeath, their second round opponents booked their place in the next stage of the tournament following a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Montrose at Links Park with Andy Rodgers, former City striker Rory McAllister and James Stevenson scoring their goals

Commenting immediately after the draw, City boss Ray McKinnon said,

" We were hoping for a home draw and we're pleased that's the way things have turned out."

" Having said that however, we know that Peterhead will prove to be very tough opponents. They won the Third Division Championship last season and Jim McInally has strengthened his squad for the league campaign ahead so we know that we'll be in for a difficult game but the main thing for us is that it's a home draw which is what every manager wants at this stage of the tournament."
