Brechin-Airdrieonians Preview - By John Hoey

Brechin City - Airdrieonians Match Preview

Brechin City and Airdrieonians will go head to head at the Glebe tomorrow in what is a massive game for both sides.

Both teams are currently sitting with 35 points with an identical goal difference of minus 14, with City ahead of the Diamonds in the table by virtue of the fact that they have scored more goals - 51 as opposed to 40.

The stakes couldn't be any higher as victory for either side would see them create a gap of three points over the other which would be hugely important with just three games remaining after tomorrow's encounter.

City will be able to take a lot of confidence and comfort from their performance against Ayr United last Saturday when they were well worth their victory in a hard-fought match and manager Ray McKinnon will no doubt be looking for more of the same against Gary Bollan's side.

Games between the teams have been close this season with the Diamonds winning the two games at Excelsior Stadium while City won the previous fixture at the Glebe.

City fans received a massive boost this week with the news that Alan Trouten signed a new contract which will see him remain at Glebe Park until the end of next season, but unfortunately 'Trouts' will be missing tomorrow as he will serve a one-match suspension after incurring a booking in the game against Rangers three weeks ago.

City manager Ray McKinnon will keep his team under wraps until nearer kick-off although the injury problems that have beset the team in recent weeks have seen some improvement during the course of the week while Diamonds boss Gary Bollan has a full-strength pool from which to choose his opening eleven with the exception of long-term injury victim John Boyle.

The Match Referee tomorrow will be Luthermuir Primary School Head Teacher Mat Northcroft who will be refereeing a City game for the second time this season, his previous City game ironically against tomorrow's opponents at Excelsior Stadium back in February.

The Match Sponsor is that good friend of the club, Beefy Stewart while Ian Jardine is sponsoring the Match Ball.

Mascot is Madison Milne (8) from Maisondieu Primary School.
