Brechin City FC in Kenya - By The Supporters Club
During the summer of 2013 two teachers from Webster’s High School, Kirriemuir made a tour of Scotland with a difference. Anthony Smith and Alan Taylor planned to travel over 1000 miles stopping off at every Senior Scottish League and Highland League football ground to pick up a current squad signed team sheet, a replica youths kit along with a ‘Round the grounds for a pound’ donation from anyone wishing to support the cause. The cash raised would help fund pupil and staff exchange links between Webster’s High School and Litein High School in North West Kenya. The Autographs of the playing staff for each club would be bound and auctioned off with the strips being presented to pupils at Litein.
When the Anthony and Alan reached the Glebe no one was at the ground but through Supporters club members Heather Whatley and her daughter Caitlin, who attends Webster’s, the Supporters club donated a strip which was featured in the school’s current newsletter following the last visit to Kenya.
As a Supporters Club we were proud to be associated with the exchange program between Webster’s High and Litein High School and goes to show that regardless of where you are in the world or what your background is, football is a common interest shared by all.
