Squad Update - By Brechin City FC

Manager Darren Dods has secured the services of 24 year old goalkeeper Conor Brennan. The former Northern Ireland Youth Internationalist has spent time with Leicester City, Kilmarnock, Stranraer (loan), Raith Rovers, Ballymena United and most recently Greenock Morton.

Darren has also agreed terms with striker Dene Shields who returns to the club for a third time having appeared for The City in season 2004/05 and again for a short spell in season 2015/16 before he returned to Malta to play for Xewkja Tigers. Dene brings vast experience to the squad having played for 14 clubs including the likes of Sunderland, Doncaster Rovers, Raith Rovers, Gretna, Cowdenbeath, Ross County, Stirling and Stranraer.

This brings the total signed players to 14 with Aron Lynas, Euan Spark, Kalvin Orsi, Jordan Sinclair, and Ewan Smith all recently extending their contracts with the Club. The full list of registered players is:

Goalkeepers: Conor Brennan, Paddy O'Neil.
Defenders: Paul Maclean, Ryan McGeever, Euan Smith, Dougie Hill, Aron Lynas, Sean Burns.
Midfielders: Callum Tapping, Kalvin Orsi, Jordan Sinclair, Euan Spark.
Forwards: Andy Jackson, Dene Shields.

The players returned to training and have completed three strenuous sessions with Darren running his eye over a number of trialists who have joined the squad for pre-season fitness. Activity picks up this week with a closed door training game v Partick Thistle on Saturday.

Darren said "As always it is good to get amongst the players after a brief closed season, training has gone well to date with some of the squad still returning from their holidays. We are gradually building the squad as we get ready for our first competitive game in the BetFred Cup at home to Peterhead on Saturday 14th July.. Prior to that we have the opportunity to assess other possible additions to the squad in our training games and the pre-season friendlies coming up V Dundee on Friday 29th June and again V Dundee United on Tuesday 3rd July, both at Glebe Park."
