Darren Dods will take his Brechin City side to the west coast to face the only other part-time side in The Ladbrokes Championship. The game will be seen by many as pivotal in terms of determining how City’s season may pan out, and The Glebe Park squad head to the re-named YOUR Radio 103FM Stadium in fine fettle after a battling 1-1 draw against Falkirk last weekend.

Both sides have yet to grab a league victory this season, and The Sons come into the game one point ahead of City having done what Dods’ men didn’t quite manage – that was clinch a point against Ray McKinnon’s Dundee United at Tannadice. Victories in the Irn Bru Cup against somewhat unlikely opponents in the form of Rangers U20s and Connah’s Quay contrast The Sons’ league form. Stevie Aitken’s side has drawn 3 out of 5 fixtures to date, scoring twice in total and yet to find the net at home.

City’s last visit to this venue was for the final league game of the 2011/12 season, where a Craig Dargo hat-trick secured a 4-2 victory for the hosts which brought the curtain down on a disappointing campaign for a Jim Weir led City who finished in a lowly 8th place.

The squad news coming out of the City camp in the lead up to the game sees little change in that Andy Jackson and Elliot Ford remain out of contention through injury, along with long term casualty Euan Smith. That leaves last week’s squad intact which, happily, sees the inclusion of skipper Paul McLean despite being substituted against Falkirk due to injury.

For the homesters Mark Stewart and Kyle Hutton return to the squad following injury, whilst skipper and former City defender Andy Dowie returns from a one-game suspension. City fans of a certain vintage may recall Dowie at The Glebe as a loan signing from Rangers, making 15 appearances early in 2004.

The match will be refereed by Nick Walsh, taking charge of his first City game since being the man-in-the-middle during last season’s memorable Play-Off Final second leg tie against Alloa Athletic.

The Supporters Club is providing coach travel leaving St Ninians Square at 10am (late enquiries to 07934 903090) and gate entry for City supporters is priced at £20 for adults, and £12 for concessions along with a Parent & Child (U12) price of £28. City fans should enter via the home turnstiles and will be housed in the west section of the stadium.
